Sundance Channel: Docu-series Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys

Positioned as "the real-life Will & Grace," I had the idea for this docu-series, which ran for two seasons on Sundance Channel. Season 1 followed these best-friendships in New York, Season 2 was filmed in Nashville. 

Nominated for a GLAAD Media Award, GWLBWLB garnered nearly 300,000 Facebook Friends as it served as LGBTQ rights and info central.

MSNBC: The Rachel Maddow Show & T-shirt

Executive Producer Bill Wolff reached out to me for help naming The Rachel Maddow Show. In the end, Mind Over Chatter was chosen as her motto/tag.

The T-shirt is (or at least was) for sale at the NBC store. And, no, I didn't get a cut. Maybe I should look into that....

AVANTI & A*PRESS GREETING CARDS

Greetings. I began freelancing for Avanti and A*Press greeting card brands a few years ago as another sometimes silly, sometimes smart outlet for word play and concepting. Avanti, a brand that’s been around since 1980 and which is available in 30 countries, could very well be credited for the original “Grumpy Cat” (there I said it). I collaborated on these two, which were recently produced.

“You Got This” is blank inside; the other one says, “You’re the Gratest! Thanks.”

Meanwhile, did you know there’s an annual awards ceremony with several best-of categories for the Greeting Card industry? There is! To read more about it, as well as Avanti’s on-goings and origins, go to my Straus News articles under Journalism.

CNN: Rebrand tag (near miss) Go There

Okay, full-disclosure: I didn't actually come up with CNN's new (2015) tag, BUT I did work two rounds with the network on their rebrand and pitched SO THERE. So there. It's so close! I'm taking a little credit while also admitting that, yes, sometimes I'm a bridesmaid...

Gail Eisenberg and Randy Eisenberg have a lot in common; similarities that go far beyond sharing the same last name. They met while working in the same department at Comedy Central.  They’re both Cancers.  They’re both gay.  And, they’ve been going to same dentist for years – long before they even knew each other.  Despite these haunting parallels, however, Eisenberg and Eisenberg have a major fundamental difference -- Randy’s a cat person and Gail’s a dog person.

TV Land: Impastor, an irreverend new comedy

TV LAND's rebrand in early 2015. 

Worked on copy for Impastor, along with Younger, The Jim Gaffigan Show, and the upcoming Teachers. The network used my line ...An "Irreverend" new comedy in a banner ad. (Hoping they can provide me with it.)

Viewer retention is to TV what location, location, location is to real-estate. Back in the day, Court TV (now TruTV) needed a trade campaign concept that touted theirs. This was it.

A&E Networks was looking for a line that tied together how one might watch their content  -- On Air. Online. On Demand. -- across all their networks.

LOGO & Stoli: Be Real Doc & Call-for-Entries Collateral

Hired by Double Platinum, a now-defunct LGBT marketing agency (perhaps the first to exclusively work with this segment) to work on call-for-entries collateral and ad copy for Be Real, a documentary that went on to become a LOGO series.

Logo: Proud to Be One 1st Anniversary Sweepstakes

Working directly with LOGO for this one-year anniversary sweepstakes, the line had to both hit the fact that the network was for all members of the LGBTQ community, as well as celebrate its first year on the air. 

I also wrote lines for the presenters on LOGO's first-ever NewNowNext awards. The show closed with Lady Gaga taking the stage after being introduced with this line: "It's not over until the GaGa Lady sings." Sorry...

The set-up for this PBS series, Colonial House: Can 26 people from 2004 survive life in 1628?

IFC: Ultimate Film Fanatic Campaign

Campaign highlighting film fanatics' obsessions, I contributed this one (though maybe it was initially Wonder Woman underwear), and wrote several unproduced scripts for on-air. More available upon request.

HBO The Works: Us Time Me Time

Another job as old as the hills, just when HBO began to expand into Multichannel HBO. This bundle was called HBO: The Works. 

I also wrote 30 produced scripts for Free HBO weekend promotions as the network expanded from one channel to three. Available upon request (if I can find them).
